When you obtain a license from the City, you will be issued a Dog License tag and a receipt.  City Ordinance requires that your pet wear this license tag as well as the rabies vaccination tag on its collar at all times.

If license fees are not paid by May 1st of every year, a penalty of $1 will be added to the license for the first 30 days of such delinquency and an additional $0.50 for each month of delinquency thereafter. Failure to pay such fines may result in surrender of such dog by its owner.

  • In compliance with City Ordinances
  • You may be subject to "Dog Running at Large" fines of $25 for the first offense, $50 for the second, and $500 for the third within a 12 month period, plus any delinquent dog licensing fees
  • If your animal has a current City license and is lost, police officers have access to your information to try and return the pet to you instead of bringing it directly to the animal impound.

benefits from licensing your pet:

All dogs living in city limits must wear a collar and be licensed, and be vaccinated for rabies. Any licensed or unlicensed dog running at large within the City, or any dog within the City not wearing a collar and valid city dog license, or any dog not vaccinated for rabies as required herein, is declared to be a public nuisance and its owner may be responsible for a fine. A "dog running at large" is defined as a dog running off the premises of its owner or keeper when not being held on a leash.

License terms are January 1st through December 31st every year.
